Join CEP Toronto for a fun, interactive virtual event on how to reduce waste in your kitchen - without sacrificing the taste! Unpack Your Kitchen: Say Yes to Taste and No to Waste aims to provide you with information to help manage and reduce food waste in your kitchen! 

Why Food Waste is a Problem? Why talk about it now? 

With the holidays coming up, we will be soon gathering with friends and family sharing meals. It is important to shed light on this issue and hopefully we can help reduce food waste with some awareness. 

The U.N. report estimates 17 per cent of the food produced globally each year is wasted. That amounts to 931 million metric tons (1.03 billion tons) of food. According to the National Zero Waste Council's research on household food waste in Canada, almost 2.3 million tonnes of edible food is wasted each year, costing Canadians in excess of $21 billion. In addition to the economic costs, food waste has substantial environmental impacts.
